I have the fondest memories of sweet Mary Elizabeth. We were honored to be the neighbors of her dear mother, Hattie Hooker (we called her Granny Hooker, I really thought she was my grandmother) Mary Elizabeth would come for visits to Jewell Ridge and was always so kind and sweet to my family. Even after I married and moved, she would remember my wedding anniversary date and send a hand written note, she always had the best penmanship. The last letter she sent, she share her fond memories of being married - I treasure that letter and her. May God bless you with the comforts that only He can.

Unfortunately, I was never able to met her, but many people in our Van Dyke family from William's 2nd marriage corresponded with her over the years, and she was loved by all of them.
