April 5, 1954 – June 27, 2010
Vickie Lynn (Thompson) Marine, 56, of rural Wabash, passed away at 12:10 am on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born to Omer and Jessie (Vandlandingham) Thompson in Wabash on April 5, 1954. Her father passed away in November 1991 and her mother passed away in September of 2009. She married Roger Marine on September 6, 2003. He survives.
Vickie was a 1972 graduate of Southwood High School and had attended Indiana University-Kokomo. She was a member of Asbury Country Church where she enjoyed leading the music. She had many passions in life including, shopping, decorating Christmas trees, and bowling where she had previously been in a bowling league. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Indy 500 fan. She enjoyed spending time at Shipshewana and Indiana Beach. She will sadly be missed by her loving family and her pets, Whitney and Smokey.Vickie previously worked for Wabash County Hospital in the Medical Records. She was currently employed at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in medical records and activities. She had previously worked as a Nurse's Assistant for Dr. Blackman, Dr. Haughn, and Family Physicians.
Along with her husband, she is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. James (Betty) Crull of Wabash; Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Armstrong of Wabash; Mrs. Stephen (Shirley) Burgess of LaFontaine; 3 nephews, Todd (Beth) Burgess of Huntington; Terry Burgess of Marion; and Tom (Cheryol) Crull of Roann; one niece; Mrs. Larry (Brenda) Conner of Wabash; one great-niece, Kyleigh Nicole Burgess of Marion; and a great-nephew, Cameron Ables of Huntington. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Allen, and a nephew, Bradley Brian Burgess.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10 am at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, IN 46992. Calling hours will be from 2pm until 8pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the funeral home. Pastor Mike Bullick will be officiating. Burial will be at Grant Memorial Park in Marion. Preferred Memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
