Velma B. Fisher, 93, Wabash, passed away at 4:35 pm Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Peabody Health Care Center in North Manchester, IN. She was born in Lagro to the late Garland A. and Bertha B. (Beeks) Benson on September 1, 1918. She married Ross Fisher in April 1972, they enjoyed 40 years together, he survives at Peabody Health Care Center. She graduated from Wabash High School in 1937. She graduated from Betty Jean Beauty School of Fort Wayne in 1940. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wabash. She was also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Wabash, Woman's Club House of Wabash, Eastern Star of Wabash, Hairdresser Association of Wabash and at the State level she was Treasurer for 2 years. She also belonged to several Eucher Clubs. After all Velma's years of owning her Beauty Nook, she obtained several close friends; at the age of 74 Velma did her last client's hair in 1992. Along with her husband Ross, she is survived by a daughter, Margaret Jo Wadkins of Wabash; a step son, Michael (Sharon) Fisher, of Wabash, a step daughter, Karen Howell, of Ohio; 6 step grandchildren, Craig Fisher of Silverlake, LeAnn O'Bannon of Marion, Missy Scott of Claypool, Denitza Fisher of Warsaw, Nick Fisher of Roann, and Tia Albea of Marion. She is preceded in death by her parents, a step son, Max Fisher, and daughter in law, Becky Fisher. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, IN 46992. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Burial will follow at Lagro Cemetery, Lagro.
