Tommy Joe Custer, 64, rural Wabash, passed away 3:45 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011 at VA Northern Indiana Health Care in Marion, Indiana. He was born to the late Edmund Merl and Margaret Elizabeth (Kohorst) Custer on July 6, 1946 in Van Wert County, Ohio.

He married Melba Johnson on July 9, 1977, she survives. He retired from Wabash County Hospital. He served his country in the United States Airforce, during Vietnam.

Along with his wife, Melba; he is survived by two sisters, Helen Weisner of Van Wert, Ohio and Cheryl Mongold of Plymouth, Ohio.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 1 1/2 miles south of State Road 124 on County Road 650 West in Wabash County, Indiana. Officiating the services will be Pastor Guy Provance. Burial in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Preferred memorials are to Wabash County Hospital Foundation, Robert LaSalle Outpatient and Oncology Center, 710 N. East Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992.
