Tanner Jordan Hayslett, 16 of Wabash, went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, November 8, 2010. He was born to Ronald Muston of Indianapolis and Kelli Hayslett of Wabash on August 23, 1994 in Peru, Indiana.

Tanner was a Sophomore at Wabash High School and was an inspiration to many of his classmates. Everywhere he went,  Tanner amazed  everyone who met him with his positive attitude after the swimming accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down.

He was a member of the Miami Nation of Indians. He was very proud of his Miami Indian heritage and was a 6th generation great grandson of Frances Slocum. His Indian name is Apeehkwa which means "Night Hawk". He attended Washington Street Wesleyan Church in Wabash.

Along with his parents he is survived by two brothers, Tyler Hayslett and Ayden Haneline both of Wabash; two sisters, Chelsea Archer of Wabash and Star Muston of Indianapolis;  Maternal Grandparents, Clyde (Janie) Hayslett of Wabash; Maternal Great Grandparents, Mrs. Kenneth (Margaret Benson) Burnworth of Wabash and the late Vern Benson; Maternal Great Great Grandmother, Mary Brown of Wabash; Paternal Grandparents, Charles and Kimberly Mann of Indianapolis; Nieces, Andi Renee Conliff-Hayslett of Wabash and Isabella Kathleen Stewart-Hayslett of Wabash.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Officiating the services will be Pastor Tary Wasson, along with services by the Miami Nation of Indians . Burial will follow in the Frances Slocum Cemetery in Wabash County, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Spinal Cord Injury Research or Wabash Little League in care of the funeral home.
