Obituary

Shirley Ann Smith, 79, Wabash, Indiana passed away August 29, 2011 at Skilled Care Center in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Virgil Monte and Adestia (Hornbeck) Fendrick on November 24, 1931 in Fairbury, Illinois.

She graduated from Laddonia High School in Laddonia, Missouri. She married Ben B. Smith on November 10, 1951, he survives. She was a homemaker and she was a book keeper at Turner and Moore Animal Hospital. She served one term as Clerk Treasurer of Lagro, Indiana. She was a member of Christian Heritage Church. She enjoyed crocheting and piecing quilts.

Along with her husband, Ben; she is survived by two sons, Dr. Dale Smith (Deana) of Oklahoma and Paul Smith (Linda) of Lagro; brother, Donald Fendrick of Hampton, Virginia; grandchildren, Jamie Smith of Frisco, Texas, Lynn Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kate Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma, Cory Smith of Lagro, and Courtney Smith of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by sisters, Beth Ann Fendrick and Bonnie Williams, and brother, Richard Fendrick, along with her parents.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Officiating the services will be Pastor Tim Prater. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Huntington County, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Child Day Care of St. Paul's County Line Church, 3995 N. 1000 W, Andrews, IN 46702 and Christian Heritage Church of Wabash, 7667 South River Road, Wabash, IN 46992.
