Ruthanna (Corki) Christle died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 9:14 pm at Eddy Village Healthcare Center in Clifton Park, NY.
Ruthanna was born on July 7, 1924 in Lagro, In. to the late Harry and Marie (Hippensteel) Keffaber and lived most of her life in Wabash and the surrounding county. She married Joseph T. Christle on June 14, 1946, he passed away February 21, 2001.
Ruthanna graduated from Ball State University in 1946. While teaching at Wabash High School she returned to school and earned her Master's in English from Indiana State and her Counseling degree from Saint Francis College.
Ruthanna was a teacher and guidance counselor at Wabash High School for 12 years and remembered many students and staff members fondly. She often spoke of the joy she received from teaching and working with young people. She felt helping young students was her greatest contribution to Wabash.
After the death of her husband Joseph Christle, she was appointed to the position of Wabash City Court Judge by then current Governor Frank O'Bannon.
Ruthanna was a member of many groups; The National and Indiana Judge Association, American Legion Auxiliary, Lady Elks, and the Indiana and Wabash County Retired Teacher Association. Ruthanna received much of her enjoyment in retirement from her Fourth Night Bridge Club and the Bridgearama Group, playing what many called "cut throat" bridge. She also enjoyed being a member and past president of the Women's Clubhouse. Intellectually, she enjoyed The Round Table Literary Club where she was also a past president. Reading and discussing books was a passion for Ruthanna.
Ruthanna is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Christle (2001) and her siblings Paul Keffaber, Otis Keffaber, Betty (Keffaber) Dowling and Maxine (Keffaber) Brown.
Ruthanna is survived by her children. Ranelle Christle of Tallahassee, Fl and two daughters Leanne, her husband Tony Gotvald, and their two children, Sunday and Ocean. Colleen and her husband Nader Nikoupour, and their two children Joon and Kian. Renita Christle Gerard and Gary Gerard of Portland, Or., their two daughters, Meghan and Brianna. Rhonda Christle Rautio and Wayne Rautio of Portland, Or., with their two sons, Michael and Ted. Rosemary Christle Renaud and Paul Renaud of Clifton Park, NY, with their two daughters, Catlin and Kristen. Robin Christle and Chris Germond of Washington state. Roxann Christle Smith and Scott Smith of Fayetteville, Ga., and their daughter Katie and son Kyle. Tim Christle and Heather Stein Christle of Lagro, In., and their son Blade and their daughter Ember.
Private Family Services will take place. Public visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, March 2, 2012 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, IN 46992. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will take place at The Honeywell Center on Saturday, March 3 at 6:00 pm. The Christle Family invites the community of Wabash to join them in the celebration of Ruthanna (Corki) Christle's life. It is the families hope that individuals will bring thoughts, memories, pictures, and stories to share as they honor the life of Corki.
