Ruby C. Gates, 73, Wabash, passed away at 6:25 pm at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN on Friday, October 28, 2011. She was born on November 11, 1937 to the late Harry and Edith (Lindsey) Vogt. She married Fred Gates and he passed away in 2001.

Ruby was a retired factory worker and was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

She is survived by 2 sons, Howard Scheffer, Wabash; and Dan Scheffer (Marilyn), Gas City, IN; a daughter, Mrs. Tim (Sylvia) Wagers, Huntington; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, a brother, and a sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will by on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10:30am at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Wabash, with Father Sextus Don officiating. Burial will follow at Centergrove Cemetery, rural Wabash. McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, IN was in charge of the arrangements.
