Richard "Red" G. Treckman, 85, 1212 Falls Avenue in Wabash, passed away 11:25 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at his home. He was born in Norwich, Conneticut on September 15, 1924 to the late Frank and Amelia (Jonbert) Treckman of Occum, Connecticut. He graduated from the Norwich Academy in 1941. He was stationed aboard the navel vessel USS Llyons APP, during both theaters of operation during WWII from 1942-1945. In 1951 Richard moved to Wabash, Indiana where he was employed by The General Tire and Rubber Company as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He married Beatrice V. Carpenter on April 25, 1959, until her death on November 15, 1991.
Richard's oldest son, Phillip G. Treckman of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on August 8, 2010. Richard is survived by his son James (Michelle) Treckman of Wabash; step grandson, Matthew Hicks of Indianapolis; and his beloved companion, Dorthy Bridgegroom of Wabash. Richard was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Richard was a life member of the Wabash Chapters of the VFW Post 286 of Wabash, The Moose Lodge and the Stineman post of the American Legion.
To honor Richard's request there will be NO calling hours or service. Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post 15 of Wabash, with a portion of the memorials going to Disabled American Veterans.
