Peter "Pete" Michael Butterbaugh

Peter "Pete" Michael Butterbaugh, 65, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was born on October 28, 1960, to Samuel Butterbaugh and Amy (Butterbaugh) Lauer in Wabash, Indiana.

Pete proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, and in the Army Reserves. He was a member of both the American Legion Post 15 and VFW Post 286, in Wabash, Indiana; he also belonged to the patriotic organization, Forty and Eight. Pete also enjoyed cooking.

Pete is survived by his mother, Amy Lauer of Wabash, Indiana; brothers, Andrew Butterbaugh of Wabash, Indiana, and Joe (Caroline) Butterbaugh of Roann, Indiana; sisters, Amanda (Michael) Mulheren of Red Bank, New Jersey, Casey (David) Sausaman of Wabash, Indiana, and Toni (Michael) Young of Punta Gorda, Florida; nieces and nephews, Kim, Amy, Shelby, Garrett, Leslie, Justine, Conor, Fiona, Jason, Cassidy, and Brooke; and his uncle, Rick Nelson of Carmel, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Butterbaugh. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Jack Suits officiating. Burial will follow at Roann Community Cemetery in Roann, Indiana. 

Visitation for friends and family will be two hours prior to the service on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
