Obituary

Morgan Vanlandingham, formerly of Wabash, 93, passed away at 3 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Norwood Healthcare Center in Huntington, Indiana. He was born to the late Charles E. and Frankie D.  (Purvis) Vanlandingham on August 13, 1918 in Owingsville-Bath County, Kentucky. He married Mary Jane Penrod on April 23, 1946, she preceded him in death on September 20, 1971. He was a retired farmer. He served his country in 8 major campaigns in the United States Army during WWII in North Africa and Normandy, where he received European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, 5 Bronze Battle Stars, Purple Heart, and American Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 15 and VFW Post 286 both of Wabash. He was a member of Church of Christ at Wabash. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ronnie (Joyce) Moyer of Richmond, Texas, and a sister, Mary Francis Howard, Wabash; 3 grandchildren, Ronnie Moyer Jr., Sugarland, TX, Kimberly Moyer, Billings, MT, and Tina Schaner, Plain City, OH; and 4 great grandchildren. Along with his wife, Mary Jane, he was preceded in death by his son, Lynn Vanlandingham; four brothers, Hezekieh, Clyde, Eugene and William (Bill) Vanlandingham; and a sister, Jessie Lee Thompson. Service will be on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 am at Church of Christ, 1904 N. Wabash Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow in the Falls Cemetery in Wabash. Officiating the services will be Evangelist Guy Provance. Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to services from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday at the church.
