Merrill B. Weaver, 87, Laketon, formerly of LaFontaine, Indiana since 1987, passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center. He was born to the late Dewitt and Bertha (Myers) Weaver on June 9, 1925 in Grant County, Indiana.
He married Bonnie J. Smith on June 7, 1963, she passed away on October 24, 2000. He worked at C.E. Troyer Seed Company in LaFontaine, Indiana, then worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Winkle Construction for 18 years, before retiring from Sullivan Construction after 12 years. Merrill and Bonnie owned the Corner Cafe in LaFontaine, Indiana for 4 years. His hobbies were flea markets. He will be missed by his loyal sidekick "Ginger".
He is survived by three sons, Ronnie L. Weaver (Ruth) of California, Missouri, Jeffery L. Cline of Maryland, and Michael Weaver of Marion, Indiana; three daughters, Becky Elliott of Wabash, Indiana, Jean Ann Heath (Wayne) of LaFontaine, Indiana, and Jennifer West (Greg) of Marion, Indiana; brother, Cecil (Jo Ellen) Weaver of North Manchester, Indiana; three sisters, Lolita Lobdell and Eileen Silvers both of LaFontaine, Indiana, and De Hambene of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister-in-law, Louise Weaver of LaFontaine, Indiana; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Maynard Weaver; two sons, Gene Weaver and John "Sam" Cline; daughter, Joella Taylor, and grandson, Jeremy Taylor.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Doug Oakes officiating. Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
