Max Leroy Morris, 72, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 12:10 p.m., on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on October 16, 1953, to Eugene and Cleo (Carter) Morris in Wabash, Indiana.
Max was a 1971 graduate of Southwood High School. He married Janet Ann Landrum on May 9, 2005. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. Max worked as a Parts Manager for DeHaven Chevrolet in Fort Wayne, Indiana for many years before retiring. Max was an avid car lover. He took pride in understanding all the nooks and crannies of a car. Nonetheless the love he had for NASCAR. He also had a great passion for all sports, but he was Da Bears and Indiana Pacers number one fan all the way. Max took great pride in helping be an assistant basketball coach at Elmhurst High School. He always loved to travel, but he mostly enjoyed adventuring with the fifth wheel camper later in life. Max is survived by his wife, Janet Morris of Fort Wayne, Indiana; children, Chad Morris (Kayla Bradford) of Wabash, Indiana, Lesley (Chad) Nelson of LaFontaine, Indiana, Cory Johnson of Port Charlotte, Florida, Kelly (John) Howard of McCordsville, Indiana, Johnnie (Kim) Melzoni of Nolensville, Tennessee, Jessica (Dan) Ingram of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Kimberly (David) Ovington of Bedford, Kentucky; seventeen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be three hours prior to the funeral service on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice in honor of Max.
