Max I. Key, 84, LaFontaine, passed away at 11:45pm on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born in Grant County, Indiana on November 20, 1927 to the late Kenneth W. and Ila (Shane) Key. He married Vera Odle. She precedes him in death. He was a graduate of Swayzee High School. Mr. Key lived his life as a factory worker and farmer.
He is survived by 4 sons, David (Joyce) Key, Marion, IN, Mark (Sherri L.) Key, LaFontaine, IN, John Key, LaFontaine, IN, and Gerald Key of Andrews, IN; 2 daughters, Mary (Darrell) Schurer, Plymouth, IN, and Laura (Kenneth) Brown of North Manchester, IN; 2 sisters, Phyllis (Don) Harner, Swayzee, IN, and Katherine (Ted) Wolheater of Marion, IN; 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, Max is preceded in death by a son, Phillip Key.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:00 am at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, IN 46940 with Rev. Melissa Rice officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel. Entombment will be at Gardens of Memory following the funeral service.
