Maurice Ray (Moe) Shelton, 52, Deltona, Florida, passed away at 10:23 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Orlando Regional Trauma Center in Orlando, Florida, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born to Ernest and Vera (Parsons) Shelton on October 1, 1959 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, they survive in Lagro, Indiana.
His parents moved to Indiana with him when he was six weeks old. He attended Lagro Elementary, he was a graduate from Northfield High School and the Heartland Vocational School in 1977. His first marriage was to Jean Lorraine Snyder of LaFontaine, together they had two children , son, Justin Shelton (Melissa Harrison) of Deltona, Florida and daughter, Mrs. Tyler (Heather) Bashlor of Canyon County, California. He was a Manufacture Representative for Englert Metals Inc. in the state of Florida for 3 years.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss along with his parents and children, a brother, Derrick Shelton of Lagro and sister, Adrena Crace of Wabash; five grandchildren, Blaike and Kamron Orth, Khloe and Kylan Bashlor all of Canyon County, California, and Brock Shelton of Deltona, Florida; his Fiance, Frances McMurray of Deltona, Florida, also one Aunt, Mrs. Ted (Violet) Shelton of McDowell, Kentucky; three Uncles, Shannon (Bette) Parsons of Arvada, Colorado, Frank Churico of Reading, Pennsylvia, and Fred Shelton Jr. of Martin, Kentucky; three Nieces, Brittany Shelton, Chelsea Beard, and Carlee Crace.
He loved life and his fellow man, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a great story teller, everyone enjoyed being around him, and hearing him tell stories of his experiences. He enjoyed playing ball, hunting, fishing, cooking, and playing the guitar. He especially loved doing things for his mother, his family was his life. He was a wonderful son, brother, father, and grandfather. He was very close to all his nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had a special relationship with his parents, kids, and grandkids, brother, sister, and his fiance, Frances whom he loved dearly. He was a true friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. He will live on in our hearts forever. He was an Organ Donor so he will still be helping other as he gave to them so Freely~ The Gift of Life.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Wabash Free Will Baptist Church, 1056 Erie Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Officiating the service will be Pastor Hobert Meeks. Burial will follow in the Lagro Cemetery in Lagro, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.
