Maria Santos (Castro) Rubio, 90, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:31 a.m. on August 17, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor West in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Silvestre and Isabel (Rangel) Castro on March 30, 1925 in Alamo, Texas.
Maria grew up around Edinburg, Texas. She lived most of her life in Port Lavaca, Texas, she also lived in LaFontaine, Indiana and Fairmont, Indiana towards the later years of her life. One year in Pharr, Texas from 2011-2012. She did live for a few years in other states with relatives in Mount Angel, Oregon, Wilder, Idaho, and Washington State. Maria was a cook for several Mexican Restaurants while living in Port Lavaca, Texas. Maria lived most of her life close to her only sister, Edubijes Castro Carrillo, they maintained a close bond as sisters and best of friends until her sister passed away in 2002.
Maria is survived by sons, Alturo Ramirez of Fairmount, Indiana, Adrian Rubio of Texas, and Esiquio Rubio of Woodbridge, Virginia; daughter, Maria Angelita (Ramirez) Villarreal of Quinlan, Texas; brothers, Nabor Castro of Mount Angel, Oregon and Macario Castro of Mount Angel, Oregon; close nieces and nephews, Edwina (Michael) Keen of Wabash, Indiana, Nasaria Weaver of Wabash, Indiana, and Alfonso Rodriguez of Noblesville, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Maria Monzon Juarez; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Rosendo Juarez and Guadalupe "Lupito" Juarez, two brothers, Guadalupe Castro and Antonio Castro, sister, Edubijes Castro Carrillo, and a grandson.
No Services will be held. Preferred memorials are directed to Miller's Merry Manor West-Activity Fund, 1720 Alber Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992.
