Loretta S. Brodrick, 68, of Lagro, Indiana, passed away at 4:49 a.m., on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at home surrounded by family. She was born on January 2, 1958, to Russell and Nellie (Ward) Smith in the state of Washington.
Loretta was a 1976 graduate of Wabash High School. She married Matthew W. Brodrick on October 21, 2006; he survives. Loretta worked at Our Sunday Visitor in Huntington, Indiana, and also at Dana in Andrews, Indiana. Loretta formerly attended the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, camping, visiting casinos, touring wineries, and riding motorcycles. Most importantly, Loretta loved spending time with her family and friends.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Matthew W. Brodrick of Lagro, Indiana; 3 sons, Brad Hayslett of Wabash, Indiana, Shawn (Kim) Hayslett of Lagro, Indiana, and James Morris of Lagro, Indiana; stepdaughter, Brooke (Jason) Kitt of Roanoke, Indiana; grandchildren, Annabell, McKenzie, Tristan, Branson, Sophia, Noah, Amelia, and Aiden. Also surviving are her brothers, Eugene Smith and Norman (Angie) Smith, both of Laketon, Indiana, Ronnie (Mary) Smith of Wabash, Indiana, and Robin (Diane) Smith of Wolcottville, Indiana; sisters, Violet Smith and Gertrude Smith, both of Wabash, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepdaughter, Kristin Bradley, and sister, Joyce Bland.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue., Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Huntington, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
