John W. McCollister, 61, LaFontaine, passed away 12:45 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born to the late Floyd W. and Martha (Darrah) McCollister in Marion, Indiana on November 12, 1949. He was a graduate of Southwood High School in 1967. He married Carolyn Nall on October 29, 1990, she survives. He retired from General Motors Tool and Die Dept. in Marion. He served his country in the Indiana National Guard. He was a volunteer Fireman for the Liberty Township Fire Department for 31 years.

Along with his wife, Carolyn; he is survived by a son, Scott McCollister (Cara) of Roann; three daughters, Dawn Pegg of Peru, Mrs. Brad (Tonie) Niccum of McCordsville, and Mrs. Doug (Jonie) Koch of Cape Gerado, Missouri; two step sons, Jason Fitzjarrald of Marion and Craig Fitzjarrald of LaFontaine; three sisters, Doris Working of Wabash, Barbara Sollars of LaFontaine and Phyllis Bowman of LaFontaine and eleven grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. Officiating the services will be Pastor Rick Smalling. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuessday, November 23, 2010 at the funeral home.
