John F. Houlihan, 84, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 6:45 a.m. on, Thursday, March 30, 2023, at The Waters of Wabash East. He was born to Harry T. and Grace E. (Withers) Houlihan on October 27, 1938, in Wabash, Indiana.

John was a 1956 graduate of Wabash High School. He then graduated from International College in Fort Wayne, Indiana with an associate degree. John served in the United States Army 1961 to 1964. He then worked for Countrymark Cooperative Inc. as a field auditor. John was a life member of the American Legion Post 15, Moose Lodge of Wabash, Elks Lodge in Wabash, and Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization.  He was an Associate Member Fraternal Order of Police. John was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash.

John is survived by his two nephews, Robert (Melissa) Houlihan of Wabash, Indiana, Thomas (Debra) Houlihan of Peru, Indiana; one niece, Susie Houlihan of Peru, Indiana; close friends, Chad (Jenny) Mosier, Cortney Mosier, Connie (James) Green, Shelly (Kelly) Veach, Isabella and Addison Veach, and Alex Mosier, all of Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas E. Houlihan and Robert H. Houlihan, one nephew, and one niece.

Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash, with Father Jay Horning officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 3, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Preferred memorials are to be directed to Wabash County Cancer Society or the Wabash County Animal Shelter in care of McDonald Funeral Homes.
