John Earl Guenin, 92, LaFontaine, passed away at his home 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in LaFontaine, Indiana. He was born to the late Oren and Emma Elsie (Weaver)Guenin on September 19, 1918 in Grant County, Indiana.
He was a 1936 graduate of LaFontaine High School. He married Wilma Jean (Arven) Guenin on October 9, 1946, she survives. He retired from work after 19 years at Martin Elevator and 11 years at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Marion, Indiana. He served his country in the United States Army, during WWII. He was a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church. He also was a member of LaFontaine Masonic Lodge. John enjoyed following the Cubs, Colts and Pacers.
Along with his wife, Wilma; he is survived by a son, Danny Ray Guenin (Patricia) of LaFontaine and daughter, Mrs. Gary (Donna Lea) Nose of LaFontaine; 4 Grandchildren, Ike Erb (Angie) of Yuma, Arizona, Mrs. Mark (Cindy) Gorham of LaFontaine, Tyler Guenin of LaFontaine and Beau Guenin (Dawn) of Wabash; 3 Step Grandchildren, Mrs. Darrin (Sarah) Oliver of LaFontaine, Mrs. Jason (Susan) Worster of Warren and Mrs. Steven (Carol) Nose of LaFontaine;and 8 Step Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister, along with his parents.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike in LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. Officiating the services will be Pastor Rick Smalling. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike in LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be directed to LaFontaine Christian Church or Wabash/Miami County Home Healthcare and Hospice.
