Janice A. Powell, 77, rural LaFontaine, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 4:02 pm at her residence surrounded by her five sons.

She was born on July 15, 1933 to Louie and Frances (Wigner) Brooks. They are both deceased. She married Ernest B. Powell on December 28, 1951. He passed away September 29, 2004.

Janice was a Wabash High School Graduate and retired from Krogers. She attended Dora Christian Church where she was a Ladie's Aid.

She is survived by five sons, David Powell of Wabash; Bert Powell of Fairmount, In; Tom (Susan) Powell, Mark Powell, and Ted Powell, all of Wabash; 2 brothers, Tim Brooks of Iowa, and Chester Brooks of Oregon; 6 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 1:30 pm at McDonald Funeral Home, Lafontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, IN 46940. Family and Friends may visit on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County. Preferred memorials may be directed to the Dora Christian Church Building Fund.
