Hazel Rowe, 78, Wabash passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Miller Merry Manor in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Charlie and Minervia (Sluss) Dollarhide in Wellsburg, Kentucky on February 3, 1934, she grew up in VanLear, Kentucky.
She was married to Raymond Rowe on December 23, 1950, he passed away April 16, 2012 after 61 years of marriage. She worked in Home Healthcare and at Cyclone Seeder part of her life. Hazel began following the Lord at Erie Street Freewill Baptist Church and was currently a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church of Marion, Indiana, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher. She loved working with children.
Hazel was a conversationalist and did not know a stranger. She loved spending time with her family and extended family. She was a very giving, generous person who loved to go to Garage Sales, garden, cook, can and freeze, and travel. She will be sadly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Rowe (Tammy) of Fort Myers, Florida and Roy Rowe of Wabash, Indiana; three daughters, Donna Rowe Bechtold of Lincolnville, Indiana, Eunice (Don) Gresham of Lakeland, Florida, and Betty (Joe) Greco of Lakeland, Florida; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Along with her husband, Raymond and parents she is preceded in death by a son, Freddy Ray Rowe, granddaughter, Lisa Rowe, two brothers, Clyde Russell Dollarhide and James Dollarhide, a sister, Mable Dollarhide, and a stepbrother, Charles "Red" Dollarhide.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 13 2012 at 2:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, IN 46992, with Pastor Charles Sluss officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery.
Preferred Memorial may be directed to Grace Freewill Baptist Church, Marion, IN.
