Dorothy Evelyn Williams, 84, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on February 28, 2011 at the Skilled Care Center in Wabash. She was born November 27, 1926 in Wabash County to the late Kenneth and Myrtle (Gaines) Howard. She lived in the LaFontaine area most of her life and in the same home for the last 58 years.
She married John Williams Jr. on August 20, 1946, he passed away on November 23, 2003. She retired from Wabash Magnetics after more than 30 years. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing. She is a member of LaFontaine Christian Church. She also loved painting at home and with a group of friends at the Marion Senior Center. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her books with family and friends. She is most well known by her family for being the best noodle maker ever. She loved having family dinners and having her family near.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ann Clary (Tim) of Grayslake, Illinois, Mrs. Gloria Shenefield (David) of LaFontaine, Mrs. Jennifer Finch (Greg) of Fort Wayne, IN, Mrs. Monica Sparling (Craig) of Lagro and Mrs. Christine McLain (Terry) of Swayzee; brother, Donald Howard (Betty) of Fort Wayne; sister, Betty Guenin of LaFontaine; grandchildren, BJ (Mecca) White, Jodi (Brent) Isbell, Ashli White (Pete Jones), Denise (Troy) Bickley, Julie (Kyle) Shoemaker, Jill (Judson) Everitt, Kate Clary, John Clary and Stefanie Thompson; and great grandchildren, Zach, Kaila, and Taylor White, Mia Cunningham, Jacob Bickley, Kati and Matthew Isbell, Christian and Drew Shoemaker, and Etournatee and Konstantlee Jones. She was preceded in death by grandson, Casey Sparling; brothers, Johnny Howard, Russell Howard, Robert Howard and Richard Howard; and sisters, Mary Alice Owen and Ruth Calender.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. Officiating the services will be Pastor Rick Smalling. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Casey Sparling Memorial Scholarship in care of the Community Foundation of Wabash County, 218 East Main Street, P.O.Box 7, North Manchester, Indiana 46962
