Obituary

Deward Hurt, 80, Wabash, passed away 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Wabash County Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to the late Isaac and Flara (Blevins) Hurt on May 10, 1931 in VanLear, Kentucky. He is survived by his step mother, Liza Hurt of Van Buren, Indiana. He married Wilma J. Ogan on March 25, 1955, she survives in Wabash. He worked at B Walter in Wabash, then retired from Celotex in Lagro, Indiana after 25 years. He served his country in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Treaty Along with his wife, Wilma he is survived by a sister, Delores Robertson of Memphis, Michigan; two half brothers, Isaac Wade Hurt of Warren and Chauncey Hurt of Richland, Virginia; seven half sisters, Goldie Shauloud of Romeo, Michigan, Joyce Hurt of Memphis, Michigan, Bessie Cannor of Worthington, Ohio, Virginia Romero of Emily City, Michigan, Pam Abells of Louisburg, Tennessee, Kathy Hurt of Van Buren and Inez Hurt of Marion. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Officiating the services will be Pastor Doug Oakes. Burial will follow in the Mississinewa Cemetery in Somerset, Indiana.
