Danny L. Schlemmer, 64, Wabash, passed away at 9:10 a.m. in his home on Monday, February 14, 2011. He was born to the late Edward G. and Kathleen L. (Parrett) Schlemmer on April 26, 1946 in Wabash, Indiana. He attended Wabash High School.

He married Alecia (Walker) Schlemmer on April 16, 1976, she survives. Danny was a heavy equipment operator for Hanson Stone in Fort Wayne, where he retired. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in 1968. He attended Boundry Line Church of Christ of Wabash. Also a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Wabash. Danny loved to golf and enjoyed fishing with his sons.

Along with his wife, Alecia he is survived by sons, Dan Schlemmer (Andrea), Robert Gray (Hope), Chad Schlemmer (Anita), and Jason Schlemmer (Natasha) all of Wabash; daughters, Amber Ragan of Peru and Charlene Blair (Donny) of Wabash; and sixteen grandchildren, along with his best friend for 55 years Robert Courtney of Wabash. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Schlemmer.

Services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Officiating the services will be Pastor Guy Provance.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society.
