Bernard "Barney" James Bashore, 58, Wabash, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:59 pm at Wabash County Hospital. He was born in Wabash on September 6, 1953 to Guy and Edna (Cornell) Bashore Kinley. They preceded him in death. He married Rebecca Whitehead on April 1, 2004. She survives.
He graduated from North Miami High School in 1972. In high school he was a gymnast and had won a gold medal and numerous other medals. He was a U. S. Airforce Veteran. He worked at Bendix in Huntington. He had previously worked at Miami County Jail as a dispatcher and turn-key. He had been the Town Marshal of Bunker Hill and Chief of Police in Roanoke, IN. He also enjoyed participating in Demolition Derbies, winning several trophies. He was a proud supporter of Little League.
He is survived by 2 sons, 1st Staff Sgt. Brandon Bashore, Afghanistan, and Matthew Bashore, Bunker Hill; 3 Stepsons, Jason Long, Matt Long, and Josh Long, all of Wabash; 3 daughters, Stacie Donelson, Kokomo, Rita Bashore, New Waverly, and Lauren Bashore, New Waverly; a stepdaughter, Katie France, Wabash; a step dad, Doyle Kinley, Miami Co.; 4 sisters, Francie Wills, Muncie, Cathy Grice, Muncie, Barb Jones, Wabash, Joannie Bennett, Peru; a step sister, Pam Brown; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 am at Falls Cemetery with Pastor Tom Richards officiating.
