Mary "Bea" Miller Obituary

Mary Beatrice “Bea” Miller, 95, passed away at 6:31 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Peabody Retirement Community.  She was born on February 8, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Joseph J. and Vincenzina M. (Strati) Altemar.

Bea was raised in Watertown, Massachusetts and she graduated from the Katherine Bibbs School studying business.  She then worked as an administrative assistant of Henry Lodge in Boston, who resigned his senatorial office to go into the army a year later. After that position, Bea worked for the engineering firm, Fay, Spofford and Thorndike.  The firm was involved in planning and construction of Army bases in the states as well as Alaska.  During World War II, she worked as a volunteer for the USO and went to dances for the servicemen at the Boston YWCA.  It was during one of those dances she met Jesse "Jack" Miller, her future husband, who was a member of the United States Navy and stationed on the USS North Carolina.  Bea married Jesse "Jack" Miller on June 26, 1948.  After they moved to Indiana, Bea worked for the State of Indiana in the Employment Division. They enjoyed a life of camping trips with their two sons throughout the United States.  Bea and her husband, Jack, moved to Peabody Retirement Community in 2005.  Jack died on May 13, 2014.

Bea is survived by one son, Bruce R. Miller. She is preceded in death by her other son.

There will be no services.  Burial will be at Falls Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana  46992.
