Phyllis J. (Melzoni) Maples

Phyllis J. Maples, 76, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 5:42 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Parkview at Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Pete and Elizabeth (Edmonds) Melzoni on August 13, 1940 in Harlan County, Kentucky.

She graduated in 1958 from Evarts High School. Phyllis married Merle K. Maples on July 16, 1958 in Clinton, Tennessee, he survives. She attended Allen Street First Baptist Church in Wabash, Indiana. Phyllis was a homemaker to her family. Phyllis was a wonderful wife and mother; family was her life.

Along with her husband, Merle she is survived by sons, Merle K. Maples Jr. (Lisa) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mark K. Maples of Peru, Indiana, and Matthew K. Maples (Amy) of Huntington, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. Melissa (David) Harrell of Clinton, Tennessee; brother, Pete Melzoni (Sandy) of Wabash, Indiana; sister, Mrs. Brenda Hatton of Marlow, Tennessee 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell K. Maples, grandchild, Mitchell K. Maples Jr. also one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating the service. Preferred memorials are directed to Wabash County Cancer.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mcdonaldfunerals.com
